Few weeks ago, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released 20,000 pages of documents received from the estate of Jeffrey Epstein. The documents are made publicly available amidst increasing demands over full disclosure of the Epstein related files in the USA. More documents are set to be released by 19 December 2025 according to the Epstein Files Transparency Act which was passed by the US Congress and signed by the President Donald Trump on 19 November 2025. The law requires the US Department of Justice to “make publicly available in a searchable and downloadable format” all files pertaining to the prosecution of the deceased child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The files released by the House Oversight Committee of the US Congress shed light into the activities and email communications of Jeffrey Epstein before his detention in July 2019 for sex-trafficking charges. He was accused of sex-trafficking of minors, and sexually exploiting and abusing dozens of underage girls. While waiting for his trial in detention, Epstein killed himself by hanging. The files released by the House Oversight Committee reveal that many prominent people from politics, academia and business alike, including Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, a former Prince of the UK, Lord Peter Mandelson, venture capitalist Peter Thiel, Larry Summers, a former Secretary of Treasury and Leon Black still kept in touch with Epstein following his criminal conviction for violating state laws against soliciting prostitution and soliciting a minor for prostitution in 2008.  It appears that despite Epstein’s service in prison and criminal conviction, his rich and powerful friends still maintained contact and remained close.

Among his email communciation, one email from Purevsuren Lundeg, a former minister of foreign affairs and adviser to the President (Elbegdorj Tsakhia) draws attention revealing Epstein’s activities concerning Mongolia in the past. The email sent from Purevsuren Lundeg dated 14 January 2017 to Jeffrey Estein reveals that Purevsuren sought to schedule to a one-on-one meeting with Epstein. Purevsuren offered three dates (21, 22, or 23 January) to have a meeting with Epstein in his Paris home. The email has a friendly tone suggesting that the two men had kept contacts previously.

When Purevsuren wrote the email in January 2017, he was a foreign relations adviser to the President of Mongolia (Elbegdorj Tsakhia). Purevsuren served as a minister of foreign affairs of Mongolia between 2014-2016. Before the ministerial appointment, he was a foreign affairs adviser to the President from 2009 until 2014. He was a close associate of Elbegdorj Tsakhia, a former President. He was nominated and appointed in May 2017 as the ambassador and representative to the Permanent Mission of Mongolia to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.  Based on other publicly available leaked documents, Purevsuren enjoyed dinner at Epstein’s home in September 2014 where Elbegdorj Tsakhia, the then President of Mongolia and Ehud Barak, a former prime minister of Israel was also present. We will report on this connection and followup work in a separate article. Stay tuned.
